We Stand FIRM: NYT Notices Coverage Doesn't Equal Care

 Paul Hsieh reports: "...The 7/28/2012 New York Times reports, "Doctor Shortage Likely to Worsen With Health Law".  I was especially struck by the fact that they finally recognize that "coverage" does not equal health care...
The article goes on to point out: "...Experts describe a doctor shortage as an "invisible problem." Patients still get care, but the process is often slow and difficult. In Riverside, it has left residents driving long distances to doctors, languishing on waiting lists, overusing emergency rooms and even forgoing care....".
You can be sure that this "invisible" problem will soon become "very visible", if Obama's Unaffordable Care Act" is allowed to come to fruition.....

Dr. Orwell Will See You Now: Dr. Paul Hsieh PJM OpEd:

We Stand FIRM: Hsieh PJM OpEd: Dr. Orwell Will See You Now:

In this excellent Op-ed, Dr. Paul Hsieh discusses the various forms of deceptive language ObamaCare advocates in and out of the government are now using to sugarcoat and obfuscate its true nature.

Terms like "affordable", "protection", "autonomy", "marketplace", and "coverage" all take on new meanings for ObamaCare supporters. They even have their own version of Orwell's famous "Slavery is Freedom".

Don't be fooled by their health care Newspeak!

Obama: Under Me "People Have A New Attitude Toward America" And "More Confidence"

"Because we're leading around the world, people have a new attitude toward America. There’s more confidence in our leadership. We see it everywhere we go," President Obama said at the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Reno.

"Four years ago, I stood before you at a time of great challenge for our nation. We were engaged in two wars. Al Qaeda was entrenched in their safe havens in Pakistan. Many of our alliances were frayed. Our standing in the world had suffered. We were in the worst recession of our lifetimes. Around the world, some questioned whether the United States still had the capacity to lead," Obama said earlier in his speech.

"So, four years ago, I made you a promise. I pledged to take the fight to our enemies, and renew our leadership in the world. As President, that’s what I’ve done. And as you reflect on recent years, as we look ahead to the challenges we face as a nation and the leadership that’s required, you don’t just have my words, you have my deeds. You have my track record. You have the promises I’ve made and the promises that I’ve kept," he said.

 What to make of this ?
"Doublespeak is language that deliberately disguises, distorts, or reverses the meaning of words. Doublespeak may take the form of euphemisms (e.g., "downsizing" for layoffs, making the truth less unpleasant, without denying its nature.

It may also be deployed as intentional ambiguity, or reversal of meaning (for example, naming a state of war "peace"). In such cases, doublespeak disguises the nature of the truth, producing a communication bypass. However, euphemism is not the same as doublespeak....

In his essay "Politics and the English Language", George Orwell observes that political language serves to distort and obfuscate reality. Orwell’s description of political speech is extremely similar to the contemporary definition of doublespeak;

In our time, political speech and writing are largely the defence of the indefensible… Thus political language has to consist largely of euphemism, question-begging and sheer cloudy vagueness… the great enemy of clear language is insincerity. Where there is a gap between one's real and one's declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, ...

Similarities can be observed in Orwell’s own definition of doublethink, from Nineteen Eighty-Four;

" The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them....To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies.."

In less intellectual vernacular, Obama is a compulsive, complete and incorrigible liar, his above comments are utter bullshit intentionally designed to obfuscate and invert facts, and anyone who believes them is an idiot who is out-of-touch with reality......
